Inflatable Reindeer Meets An Untimely End And The Security Camera Catches It All

When it comes to Christmas characters, I think most of us appreciate Rudolph, and for many of us, Rudolph may even be our favorite.

After all, we may identify with him and his plight as being a reindeer that didn’t fit in at first but eventually, came in to save the day.

Unfortunately, for at least one inflatable reindeer, there was nothing that could have saved him. According to the homeowner, Dave Laster, they came out one morning to find poor Rudolph laying on the ground unresponsive.

Laster shared about it on Facebook, and it all happened at his home in Lake Tahoe, and truly, Rudolph was in bad shape.

The reindeer was deflated, laying on the ground and the other inflatable decorations seem to be standing there almost mocking him. It almost sounds like the movie all over again.

The good news is, Dave has a Ring doorbell video camera and it was on duty, catching the culprit in the act.

Dave went on Facebook to speak about the situation. He said: “Upon reviewing my Ring cam video, it appears that a hungry Tahoe Bear was not in the Christmas spirit.” He then went on to express his sorrow for losing Rudolph, who was only two years old.

Although many people are wondering what Rudolph was thinking during this time, I can’t help but wonder what the bear was thinking. Maybe he thought Rudolph was an easy target and he didn’t get exactly what he needed. Regardless, it was lights out for the reindeer.

In speaking with The Dodo, Dave said: “We love our Tahoe bears no matter what they do. We live in their habitat. They were here long before us. The bear has probably walked by the reindeer 30 or 40 times and never attacked him. It’s definitely a rare occurrence, but it’s just part of living with wildlife.”

He also auctioned off the inflatable reindeer on eBay and donated the money to the BEAR League of Lake Tahoe.
