Photographer Captures Rare Bird Photo That Doubles As An Optical Illusion
People take pictures of almost anything but for Kenichi Ohno, there is nothing like taking pictures of birds. He regularly visits a marsh in Japan to take those pictures.
On one particular day, he saw an egret wading in shallow water and knew that he had to capture the moment. The picture is going viral and being shared on social media, and you will have a hard time believing it yourself.
The All-Japan Association of Photographic Societies recently gave Ohno an honorable mention in the Nature in Japan Photo Contest. The picture that won him the award is so amazing that most people think it is photoshopped.
Ohno called the picture “Gap,” and it has been verified as being authentic. There is actually a good explanation for the unusual picture, and it is a once-in-a-lifetime.
On the contest’s website, the photo is called “amazing with a strong impact.” The blurb also discussed how you couldn’t understand at first how it was taken.

It has to do with the fact that the air was so still that day, even a slight stir can make a huge impact on a picture.
It also went on to mention how man-made objects don’t always enhance a picture but in this case, it worked well.
In order to further understand the picture you are seeing, take a look at the upper right-hand corner. That is a cream-colored wall and below the wall is its reflection in the water.
Ohno was positioned perfectly so that when he took the picture, it would make a straight line in the photo. One side is all water and the other side is the wall with its reflection.
There is a lesson in here for all of us. If you have a camera and a passion, get out there and start taking pictures.
