Sicilian Village Looks like A Human When Viewed From Above

When we look at the world around us, we tend to have the view of someone who is standing on the earth. When we have the opportunity to go above the surface, either in person or through a drone, we sometimes get a unique perspective that really changes our thought of where we were standing.

Nobody knows this better than Pio Andrea Peri, a photographer who took some aerial pictures of his hometown in Sicily.

Viewing the town from the ground likely showed how such a small village can be so unique but when seen from the air, it took on an entirely different form.

Some of the interesting factors about this city, Centuripe, include the ancient Roman ruins and sculptures that are in the area. People will come to the city to see it but now they are flocking to the city because of what is seen from above.

He didn’t take the pictures by accident. In fact, he was visiting Google Earth when he saw that there was something unusual about the shape of the city. He took his drone and flew it as high as possible and suddenly, he saw what he wanted to see. Centuripe looks like a human from above!

There were some limitations to the drone he was using so he took multiple pictures and put them together in order to have a shot of the entire village. He then posted the picture online for the world to see and it quickly went viral.

Centuripe is certainly a city that looks like a human, as can be verified on Google Earth. Even though that is true, there were some who doubted his images.

Because this is an ancient city, it was built on a hill to help protect it in the event of war. It was destroyed in the 13th century so everything that you see pictured is from the 14th century and beyond.

There are approximately 5000 people who call Centuripe home these days. Considering the fact that many more are becoming interested in the town due to its unique shape, it may just be home to many more by the time it’s all over.
