Bear Rescued From Bile Farm Makes a Splash on His First Day of Freedom
For Tuffy the bear, life on a bile farm was horrific. He lived in a cramped cage, where walking on bars and a lack of water caused his paws to crack. His gall bladder, after years of humans “milking” his bile to be used for Chinese medicine, was damaged beyond repair and needed to be surgically removed. Now that he’s been rescued and rehabilitated, Tuffy is living in Animals Asia’s Vietnam sanctuary, and his joyous savoring of his new-found freedom is a sight to behold. Watch how he frolics while bathing in a pool, something he never got to do in captivity.
