The golden pheasant is darkly colorful with deep red, orange, and blue-black feathers. The males are far more colorful than their female counterparts, with golden-yellow crests designed to draw a mate, and also boast a green upper back. The dark colors, while catching a female’s attention, still blend in to the bird’s forest home, keeping it protected.

These animals aren’t the only colorful celebrities of the animal world. The Gouldian finch, for instance has a purple breast, golden-yellow billow, green wings, blue crest, and red face. The rainbow lorikeet’s periwinkle face and rainbow body can put the colors of other birds to shame.
