Kayaker Sings To Attract Beluga Whales And They Listen

Most of us appreciate nature and do what we can to be out in it at any time possible. Although we may be limited in what we can see, we all have the opportunity to see something interesting, even if only from our backyard.

For one man, however, the ability to see nature was taken in a rather interesting way. He was out kayaking and wanted to get up close and personal with some beluga whales, so he started singing.

As he’s singing as loud as he can, he got the surprise of his life when a pod of beluga whales comes over to inspect his kayak. They began to interact with the kayaker, and he loved every minute of it.

According to The Dodo, he had difficulty believing what he saw at first, but then he decided to take full advantage. He grabbed his scuba mask and jumped into the water to swim and sing with them.

It isn’t just that he was singing to the whales that we find interesting. The belugas were singing back to him. They were chirping and trilling, making some unusual noises as if they were doing a two-part harmony.

Nobody is sure if he was actually having a conversation with the beluga whales. Scientists do think that they communicate using sounds, but it may have just been an interesting encounter for everyone involved.

Fortunately, he was able to capture a lot of this on video.
