Photographer Captures Exact Moment Lightning Strikes Christ The Redeemer Statue
The Christ the Redeemer statue is recognized around the world and for good reason considering it’s one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
Standing 98 feet tall and 92 feet wide, Christ the Redeemer has been an iconic part of the Rio De Janeiro landscape in Brazil since it opened on October 12, 1931. Since its opening, it’s drawn crowds of people from around the world.
Of course, being that tall means it’s also a prime target for lightning strikes.
As it turns out, the statue has been hit by lightning. A hobbyist photographer from Rio even managed to capture the exact moment a bolt of lightning hit the statue and he shared photos of the moment on Instagram.
Fernando Braga snapped the photos on February 10 and it was only a matter of days until the post went viral.
Braga is calling the breathtaking photos “Divine Lightning.”
“WORTHY OF A WORLD PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD Just fantastic!!!” one person commented. “This is definitely a sign from God,” another added. Some people are even calling the moment a miracle.
