Man Shares Once-In-A-Lifetime Moment With Wild Hummingbird

Hummingbirds are such fascinating creatures. They’re small, but they are quite powerful despite their small size.

For a start, they can fly super fast for being so tiny. I am always fascinated by the hummingbirds in my parent’s backyard. They climb so high in the air only to fly down so fast – it’s incredible!

I’ve never seen one up close. I think it’d be so cool. However, one man did get to experience a once-in-a-lifetime moment with a sword-billed hummingbird got very close to his face.

47-year-old Nicolas Reusens, who is originally from Bogota, Sweden, was up in the mountains of Quito, Ecuador. There was where he had his up close and personal encounter with the hummingbird. Not only did he get to have this extraordinary experience, but he was able to capture the entire thing on camera.

As Reusens said of his video on YouTube, “Short video of my encounter in ultra slow motion with the Ensifera ensifera, the hummingbird that has the longest bird’s beak in the world in relation to the total length of its body.”

He then said, “It wasn’t dangerous at all, but the flying skills of this bird were just plain amazing.”

And he was right. The up-close video shows just how skilled flyers these little birds are.
