Rescuers Forced To Save Pink Pigeon After Suspected Gender Reveal Party

If there’s one thing that people enjoy, it’s getting together for a party. Any type of party will do, but it seems as if gender reveal parties are some of the most popular.

Not everybody agrees with gender reveal parties, and they have seen their fair share of problems in recent years. Those problems include people starting wildfires after lighting off pyrotechnics to reveal the gender of their child.

In New York City, there has recently been a pigeon rescued. The rescue wasn’t because the pigeon was injured. It was because somebody had dyed it pink. Many people think the pigeon was used as part of a gender reveal party.

Nobody can really say why the pigeon is pink, but it seems to fit into this category. They found the pigeon in Manhattan, wandering around in Madison Square Park.

People quickly noticed this pigeon because he seemed out of place. As a King pigeon, you would expect that he would be gray and black, but he was pink from head to toe.

After being rescued, the Wild Bird Fund went on Facebook to give an announcement. They wanted to stop people from harming animals as part of their parties.

Thankfully, the bird is being cared for by the Wild Bird Fund. They wanted people to know that pigeons aren’t pink, and this domestic King pigeon had been deliberately dyed that color and then released.

The Wild Bird Fund said in the Facebook post: “This poor bird has it bad enough as a domestic bird unable to find food in the wild, fly well or escape predators, but being a bright, unusual color makes him even more of a target. He’s also barely more than a fledgling but shows signs of longterm malnutrition.”

They want people to stop releasing domestic birds into the wild. Any celebration, including funerals, weddings, and art projects, should be off-limits for these birds. They hope, also, that people will not dye the birds.

They say that if an all-white pigeon or other off-colored bird is seen in the wild or a tame bird appears lost, it should be caught and brought to a pigeon rescue.

Hopefully, this pigeon will get the attention he deserves.
