Teen Snaps Rare Photo Of Once-In-A-Lifetime Comet

A teen photographer managed to capture a rare, once-in-a-lifetime photo of a green comet flying across the night sky.

The teen, 16-year-old Asher Albrecht, lives in Canton, Ohio where he practices amateur astrophotography.

According to News 5 Cleveland, Asher’s mom said that he had been working to get a clear photo of the comet for a month, but he was struggling to get the perfect shot – until late Saturday night.

Around 10:30 p.m., Asher was outside attempting once again to capture a photo of Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) and he managed to capture a brilliant photo it!

According to NASA, Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) was discovered by astronomers in March of 2022. While its first sightings were visible only with a telescope, astronomers predicted that on February 1, the comet would reach its closest point to the earth and could become visible to the naked eye in dark skies.

Space.com reports that the comet is believed to have entered our solar system last some 50,000 years ago. While it’s impossible to know for sure, they believe it’s not likely to enter the solar system again for another 50,000 years.

Photographers from all over have been working to capture a rare photo of the fleeting comet, but only a handful have successfully got the shot. It’s incredible that such a young and amateur photographer was able to get in on the incredible moment – it’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

I think it’s safe to say young Asher’s future is bright in the world of astrophotography.
